Abro saloncito aprovechando que, por lo visto, va a ver la luz un nuevo volumen de las casi siempre cojonudas Neil Young Archives. Se trata esta vez de un directo del 90, de la gira del Ragged Glory con Crazy Horse que, al parecer, goza de cierta popularidad entre los fanes más devotos. Hay por ahí quien dice que estamos hablando del mejor directo que Young haya hecho nunca con los Crazy Horse (parece que hay, hace años, piratas que la documentan y que levantan pasiones). Casi ná.
Cronológicamente se sitúa, pues, entre el Blue Note Cafe (que, por lo menos a mí, me parece un truñaco considerable) y el Dreamin' Man, el de Harvest Moon en directo, que está de cojón de mico -y que no hay quien encuentre por ahí a buen precio, ya me jode. El vídeo de presentación tiene buena pinta y el formato es, desde luego, de lo más tentador. Cajoto con cuatro discos, que se dice pronto. Buah, cómo nos vamos a poner!
Se trata, por cierto, del volumen 11.5 -para el que no lo sepa, los NYA van numerados por orden cronológico de grabación, y no de publicación (como, por ejemplo, los BS de Dylan). Mi teoría sobre el decimal, por cierto, es que se trata de un error de cálculo inicial. Pero, aviso, que esto lo digo sin tener ni la más reputísima idea, y que bien podría ser algo totalmente distinto.

muy buena idea @InsideTheMuseums que yo en los temas del shf me pierdo entre tanta deriva. no tenía ni idea de este volumen, pero soy muy fan del ragged glory, que es el disco que había salido cuando servidor descubrió a neil young.
hay fecha de salida? aunque bueno, fechas con neil young hacen mala combinación...
Yo estoy casi seguro de tenerlo en versión piratona y si es el que pienso, en efecto es una pequeña joya. Si a alguien le interesa lo puedo buscar (espero encontrarlo pero no prometo nada).
muchas gracias @manitoba pero yo prefiero esperar a que salga el disco, aún siendo consciente del riesgo que eso conlleva, que es neil young y cada vez que saca algo en la fecha planeada se le cae un brazo.

Con el Way Down in the Rust Bucket todavía sin editar (13 días faltan), ya están anunciando el nuevo volumen. Young Shakespeare, del 71. Recién publicado After the Gold Rush pero con temas de Harvest a cascoporro. Tiene pintaza, la verdad.
Cuidado con Young que va como una moto. A este paso, terminamos los Archives pasado mañana.
Neil Young‘s 1971 solo show at The Shakespeare Theater (in Stratford, Connecticut) will be released next month as Young Shakespeare, across a number of formats.
The show was filmed and recorded on 22 January 1971, just two months after the release of After The Gold Rush and the concert was shown on German TV later that year. The performance has an amazing setlist but features only a couple of songs from After The Goldrush while Neil previews four from Harvest which, amazingly, was still over a year away from being released at that point.
The concert was shot on 16mm film and is apparently “the earliest live footage of Neil performing that is known to exist”. Young himself considers the performance “superior to our beloved ‘Massey Hall'” and says “Young Shakespeare is a very special event. To my fans, I say this is the best ever.”
The analog tapes have been lovingly restored, resulting in what Neil Young calls “one of the most pure sounding acoustic performances we have in the Archive”.
Young Shakespeare is issued on 26 March 2021.

Viene en casette, doble? cd, doble vinilo en black y transparente limitado con etching y a los precios populares que nos tiene acostumbrados (hay que vigilar esto eh? Neil!!)
Por un lado me alegro de que esté sacando tanta mandanga y por lo visto (oído) siempre de buena calidad, todo analógico y tal, pero por otro, está sacando tantas cosas que yo al menos no doy abasto y me he descolgado.
